This group supplies two specific kinds of face masks, both being well tested in the US during this pandemic and both have specific applications.
- The Simple Pleated Mask (Deaconess): a double thickness cotton mask without a filter insert for general community use where a surgical mask is not available. It has a high efficacy in stopping a carrier from spreading the virus through droplet or aerosol transmission and a medium efficacy of stopping droplet inhalation. When used properly this mask may also assist the wearer in not touching their face.
We are seeing these masks mainly used by people who feel they could pose a risk of asymptomatic transfer, such as community workers in health and allied areas, and individuals in the care of such workers. Approximately 1 in 4 of virus carriers being unaware they are infected. This pattern has been tried and tested in the US for use where no suitable approved PPE is available. It is robust enough to maintain its usefulness over multiple hot washes and so can be easily maintained.
Please note that these masks are manufactured to be multiple use, and are not to be provided as single use or throw away after use.
- The N95 Cover: intended to be worn over a tight-fitting N95 mask by individuals in higher risk situations who have only limited access to approved PPE. They are made so they can be changed between patients, clients or environments to protect the N95 mask from fluid exposure which renders it a risk for the wearer. Again this pattern has been tried and tested in the US with good results in extending the usefulness of the N95.
Please note this is a cover and not intended to be worn on it’s own as a protective mask.
We also offer Scrub Caps to hospitals and hospital staff where access to showers at work is unavailable or extremely limited.
We use 100% close-woven cotton which can be washed repeatedly at high temperatures for sterilisation.
